Sony Playstation is a series of consoles created by Sony Computer Entertainment. First mentioned in 1986, and then released in 1994(Japan), 1995(North America). This series is one of three series of consoles selling at retailers,currently. Sony's first console, Playstation was a big hit. It was the first console in gaming history to sell 100 million units. It's best game, Gran Turismo is an console-exclusive racing game. In 1999, Sony released a successor, Playstation 2 to overrun Playstation's success. Playstation 2 was a huge hit, nominated and won for the best console to be made. It is currently in production, being in production for about 12 years. Rockstar Game's Grand Theft Auto series helped Playstation 2 remain its success, by releasing Playstation 2's best games; Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto Vice City and Grand Theft Auto III. 5 years after success Sony shows a next gen console, Playstation Portable(PSP). It grabs some success, but not as much as Playstation and Playstation 2. This system competes with Nintendo's DS.
1 year after the PSP, Sony shows a lot of success, releasing the Playstation 3. Since HD was shown in 2005, Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony each released an HD console. Nintendo released a motion console called Wii, Microsoft created a console called the Xbox 360;and Sony released the Sony Playstation 3. PS3 is known for its graphics, for its free online support, Playstation Network and it's motion support, Playstation Move.
In 2011, Sony showed the Sony NPG, aka PSP2, and its been said a Playstation Phone will be released.
